When we were told she was a girl all the family got excited. After all the boys we were having a little girl, I wondered what that will be like. Shortly after discovering we were having a girl we also discovered there were complications. For the next four months my wife was in the hospital in a high risk ward. Every day we monitored the situation and prayed for a full term birth. Each doctor and nurse would give us hope one day and concerns the next day.
Finally after all those days of waiting the day was here. She would be born the next day and we got very excited. I even brought in a very special lobster dinner for my wife to celebrate the day coming. The next morning more doctors and nurses arrived, they did not seem to know what was going to happen when my baby came out. One of the nurses tried to tell me to wait out of the room, I laughed and said I have watched a few births let me in.
This would be a C-section, so I watched as they cut the skin and other layers. Then it happened the doctor reached in for my baby girl. He pulled her out and announced she is perfect in every way. The room cleared very quickly when they knew there was nothing for them to do. That was when the doctor said who is going to clean her up. I said give me my babe, I will get her cleaned up. One of the nurses came over to assist me as I cleaned her up. They checked her out once more and announced she is full term and everything looks perfect. I wrapped my babe in her first diaper and blanket, and then went walking around the room to enjoy my babe. The doctor said they had more work to complete on the mother, so I showed my baby to the mother and went out the door.
All the family was waiting in the waiting area as I opened the doors to the waiting room and announced your baby sister is here. Everyone came to see the baby and were so happy to see she was perfect and so healthy.
Yes, that was 17 years ago today and every day since that day she has been a blessing to me. She has shown me amazing joy and love. Happy Birthday Kaitlyn
Much joy and love to you and yours
