Years ago I had a dream about completing college, I started out very well. I completed the first year and loved every day of that dream adventure. Then I got distracted, ok I fell in love with a woman, who also had two kids. We were one happy broke family, but did we have fun all the time. I had to put my college dream on hold while I provided for my new family. Time was moving fast and no matter how hard I worked I kept thinking someday I will go back to that dream and complete my college degree.
Then one day I woke up and said I will never live my dream this way. I have so many other dreams and while I was open to the new journey, I wanted my dreams. I finally said enough dreaming about things that will never happen, I said I am going for it. I went back to my college and told them I am coming back full time. We created a plan and I took the actions to make that dream real. It was hard working full time, caring for a family and going to college, but I was determined there was no stopping me.
In record time I completed the degree, I did three years’ work in two years and graduated with all A’s. As I look back I am amazed I did it and it was so hard, but there were two key things that drove me and did not allow me to fail. First I truly believed I could do it and second I never listened to people who tried to tell me I could not do it. Even when the school told me it was impossible to take 21 credit hours in one semester, I said watch me. That is how I completed that dream.
How about you. Take those dreams off the shelf, start believing, and take action. Remember a dream really is just a vision of your future. It just takes belief and action to live it.
Much joy and love to you and yours
