Thinking about Mom again I can only think of a few times when my Mother had that demanding voice and you knew you were in for it when she used your full name. The other 99% of times she was very loving to me and her voice was very sweet. I really love my Mom and enjoy all the times we get together. I would have to say her kind voice and love is what leads me to totally focus on Joy and Love all my life. Thank you Mom.
Thinking about voices you know the voice is a very powerful tool. Words are too…but that will be for another day. Let’s focus on the voice for now. A soft voice is wonderful when you speak to children, but not so great in leading a team. However, at the same time a loud demanding voice should only be used in hard times. I know that demanding voice is a requirement for military, but not really for work in other areas. There is that voice in the middle I like. It’s strong yet open to listen and guide, kind of like most of the teachers I have had over the years.
I have always found that middle voice to be the best. I have used it for years at work and my teams seem to always enjoy it. There were a couple times I really had to show them this was required, when I made a very demanding statement they jumped back. I remember once when my lead developer said I have never seen you get upset, this must really be big. I had to laugh and said just get this fixed, and tomorrow everything will be great and we can have fun.
As the old saying goes, you can attract a lot more bees with honey than vinegar. It also feels so much better to talk nice and work together. Just think about your voice today and adjust it to joy and love and watch for the smiles.
Much joy and love to you and yours
