My father gave me great advice when I was young. He told me it does not matter what position you hold you must always provide the highest quality in service. He continued by saying if you sweep floors have the cleanest floors ever. If you work on cars make them run better than ever. If you write, write the best papers ever. Then came the kicker, the quality of services you provide shows how much you care about the work you were given. When you show you care the quality will be the best. When you do your best you will be given greater positions.
I do believe the way we care about anything is the results of its quality. When I see a paper at work lacking in quality, right away I can tell that person cares little about the project. When I see a messy room I tell my kids don’t you care, if you did your room would not look like that.
I remember reading about this inner city neighborhood that was a mess. Most would say it is beyond repair and nobody cared any more. Well a group of people got together and started caring, they cleaned up the park first. People started to notice and a few came out to assist with the cleanup project. After they completed the park cleanup, everyone got excited. Funds were raised to provide paint and other supplies and soon enough that neighborhood looked like it did years ago. The people cared again and when they were asked a year later about the project, a few replied the quality of life was raised and we are all doing better.
Raise that bar on quality and watch your life change.
Much joy and love to you and yours
