Then there are those really crazy rules. For example, In Salt Lake County, Utah, it’s illegal to walk down the street carrying a violin in a paper bag. Who created that rule and passed it into law, wow.
Then I looked at the ten basic rules in the bible, also called the Ten Commandments. They completely made since to me, but did you know there are hundreds or other rules added after the basic ten. There were rules for everything, from the way you dressed to how many steps you could take before its considered work.
Now think about what I said in the beginning I created rules/laws to protect my children and provide guidance for them. The same goes for the creation of some rules, some or just plain silly. I believe the basic rules of life are there to protect us and guide us to joy and love. I also believe in discussing the rule/law when its presented to you. Sometimes people want to bring rules from another group to yours and feel we also must follow that rule. One time I had a General tell me he was going to write me up for my shoes. I said what are you talking about this is not the Army, Sir. I was respectful, but not naïve.
There are also laws written to protect us and we must follow. For example you should tell the officer pulling you over you don’t agree with the posted speed. You can point that out in court to a judge, but it will not go far.
Let me get back to the real point of this blog. Rules should be created to protect and guide you, but when they are questionable you should seek wisdom, ask about that rule. There are also rules we set in our mind about how far we can go and what we are allowed to do. Those rules are completely silly and should be questioned. You are wonderful and can do great things. You need to change your mind to achieve your highest levels of joy and love.
Much joy and love to you and yours
