I have seen perfect seasons with all wins and not so perfect seasons, we will call those rebuilding seasons. I had one do travel soccer and we would travel around Virginia, Maryland and DC playing soccer. The funniest one was when I took my niece to tournament games, I always thought she enjoyed watching the games with me. Years later I found out, it was not me, she was interested in the boys playing soccer all her age…hmmmm
Then there were the time I had five playing in the same seasons, I got very lucky with schedules those years. I posted the schedule on the refrigerator with tons of rows and columns; the funny part is for the most part I could still see all the games. There were a few games I would watch half the game, run another one to another game, come back pick him up and run back to watch the second half of the other game.
There was another time when between games we all stopped at 7-11 for drinks and snacks, then run to the next game. Sure made my day watching my kids having fun and playing a game they all loved.
I enjoyed watching them so much it influenced my house search when we were planning on moving. I had to have a yard with a large back yard for the kids to play soccer. Even got the goals when we moved in. One time we had an international game in my back yard. That is right we had Germans, South American, and Americans all playing a game. They could not talk to each other, but they sure had a great game of soccer and I watched it all from my back deck.
Watching my children play soccer brought and still brings a great joy to me. Thank you my children and all the kids we have played with over the years.
