John woke up with a bunch of questions.
Questions like who am I any ways? What am I doing with my life? What are the lessons I have learned? Are my feelings real? Who are Beth and Carie? Does God really care about me? Does the Holy Spirit really talk to people? The list of questions, went on for pages. He knew these were hidden thoughts, he had carried around within him for years and some were current questions.
Then he thought you are not who you think you are. All your education, books and life so far are based on imagined beliefs. Then he wondered how spent 40 years wondering around in this world doing as he thought was right. Believing what he was told and yet it was all imagined. Then it hit him if you were born in a rich family, you would believe you were rich and so you are. If you were born in a poor family and believed you were poor, you are. When you were born you were given a life of this world, in specific situations and locations, and you thought you were part of that situation. Even thinking about gender and how the roles are predefined by the world. You were a given a color, and so you thought like your culture and race thought. John was very confused and said to himself who am I, and where is this going?
Later at church he got part of his answers.
Exodus 3:11-14 Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.”
John 14: 11-14 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
The speaker then said, Every day people come to me, and ask who they are, and what shall they do. Some will just ask, why I am here, and what is my purpose. I feel these two paragraphs answer both of these questions. I will leave you today, with two other questions, who are you not, and who do you follow. Meditate on these thoughts and discuss them with your family and friends and know God is with you.
Much joy and love to you and yours
